Josephine Castillo (Charter Class) - CSUMB Spring '12 Graduate
Josephine Castillo, a past chapter president and charter member, is currently residing in South Korea. She has been teaching elementary students English a little over six months now and is working towards finishing a year long contract. For her future plans, she is preparing to enter a Professional Designation program emphasizing in the Beauty Industry Marketing and Merchandising at the Fashion Institute of Merchandising and Marketing in Los Angeles in Spring of 2014.
Jessica Garcia de Paz (Charter Class) - CSUMB Spring '13 Graduate
Charter sister Jessica Garcia De Paz is completing her Masters of Arts in Higher Education Leadership at the University of San Diego. She is working as a Graduate Assistant for Greek life and directly advising the Panhellenic Council and various Greek letter organizations at USD. Jessica is also on the planning committee for Kappa Delta Chi’s 2014 National Leadership Conference in El Paso, Texas. She hopes to complete a masters degree and another study abroad program in the Middle East or South America in the next two years.
Nery Jaime (Charter Class) - CSUMB Spring '11 Graduate
Charter sister Nery Jaime just completed the academic portion of the Masters of Arts in Clinical Psychology with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy program through the Chapman University system. She is interning for Catholic Charities serving in Orange county as she prepares to attain her degree and take the MFT license exam for the state of California. Nery is employed as the general manager for a property management company and currently supervises 5 property managers throughout the Los Angeles/Long Beach areas. Nery is planning to apply to a doctorate program in clinical psychology within the next couple of years.
Kara Lewis (Charter Class) - CSULA Spring '13 Graduate
Charter sister Kara Lewis graduated from California State University, Los Angeles in Spring 2013 with her Bachelors degree in Urban Learning, which was a program that focused on teaching in inner city communities. She currently works as a teacher in an infant and toddler program at Anna Bing Arnold Children's Center on the Cal State LA campus. Kara is planning to apply for a Masters program in Early Childhood Education for the Fall 2014 semester, but is taking this year to gain more experience in the classroom and travel.
Yesenia Lopez (Charter Class) - CSUMB Fall '12 Graduate
Charter sister Yesenia Lopez is currently working as a Leasing consultant at a condominium complex and is an Assistant to the Business Office Manager at a charter school. She seeks to soon obtain her substitute credentials which would lead her to her teaching credentials to become either a teacher or a school counselor for the charter school.
Sugeyth Ronquillo (Charter Class) - CSUMB Spring '13 Graduate
Sugeyth Ronquillo, charter sister received her bachelors of science in kinesiology with a wellness concentration and a minor in Spanish language and Hispanic cultures. She's also a certified physical activity in public health specialist. Currently Sugeyth is working at Alisal High school through the Educational Talent Search program. She works closely with at risk/low income students and is an advocate for higher education. In the future Sugeyth plans to receive an additional bachelors in nursing or a masters degree in a health related field. She is also in the process of becoming an advisor for the Alpha Phi chapter.
Jocelyn Varela (Charter Class) - CSUMB Spring '12 Graduate
Jocelyn Varela, charter sister, completed her Bachelors of Science in Mathematics with a teaching concentration at CSUMB. She is currently on her last quarter at Cal Poly Pomona to receive her teaching credentials. She is giving back to her community with an SES program that specializes in providing free tutoring services to low income families. Jocelyn recently completed her first clinical practice, teaching a First grade classroom and will be completing her second clinical practice at a yet to be determined middle school. Jocelyn hopes to teach for a few years while working to earn her Administration Credentials to become a school principal.
Evelyn Romero (Alpha Class) - CSUMB Spring '13 Graduate
Alpha Sister Evelyn Romero is currently working for Central Coast Center for Independent Living as a Job Coach/Job Developer for the the Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) Program. She is training to provide employment services to persons throughout Monterey and Santa Cruz counties with TBI who are trying to live more independently. She is hoping to gain experience through this position to enter graduate school with knowledge and skills to obtain a Masters in Social Work. She is planning on applying to graduate school for the academic year of 2014-2015. Her goal is to move out of her comfort zone and live independently in a different area to be able to grow as an individual and a single mother.
Anita Velasco (Alpha Class) - CSUMB Spring '13 Graduate
Alpha Class Sister Anita Velasco graduated from CSUMB with a BA in Visual and Public Art. Afterwards, she pursued an opportunity to work with the CSU Summer Arts Program as a Production Assistant. Following the completion of Summer Arts she moved back to Southern California where she continues to seek opportunities with a community based organization. She is also on the planning committees for the Kappa Delta Chi Sorority Western Regional Conference, that will be held by the Alpha Phi Chapter at Monterey Bay. Anita plans to continue her education by entering into a Masters program for Organizational Leadership so that she may eventually open her own non-profit arts organization. Knowing how difficult it is to be an undergrad, she continues to support her sisterhood so that they may go on and be that support for other young ladies.
Michelle Epperson (Beta Class) - CSUMB Spring '13 Graduate
Michelle Epperson, Beta class sister graduated with a bachelors degree in psychology from CSUMB. Since graduation she has continued working at a YMCA as an aquatic lead staff member and a lifeguard/CPR/AED and First Aid instructor. This summer, she created a junior lifeguard program to help teach young adults and children basic life saving skills. She will be traveling to other high schools in the bay area certifying students in CPR and First Aid to help insure that in any emergency they will know how to respond. Michelle is currently in the process of joining the military to study PTSD. In the future she plans on working for the military as a trauma/PTSD psychiatrist.
